Description
We strive to create a diverse community of practice invested in using participatory science approaches like citizen science and community science with undergraduate students. Specifically, we i) develop and test recommended practices for the implementation and assessment of these approaches with students, ii) facilitate the adoption of participatory science approaches by instructors, and iii) assist citizen and community science project staff in attracting instructors to use their project.

Ways to get involved:
At this stage of the Network, there are three main ways to get involved.
1) Resource Collection – upload or use materials (lesson plans, relevant publications, etc.) on our website.
2) Working Groups – join a small group of people diving into a specific topic (e.g., use of citizen science in online courses, cataloging relevant assessment resources) to produce a summary publication, blog, and webinar. Stipends available!
3) Facilitated Discussions – participate in a facilitated group conversation between instructors and project managers to determine the various considerations for using participatory science approaches with students.
At later stages of the network, we will be creating peer mentorship for instructors new to these approaches and will be setting up multi-institutional research projects. See our website for more information!
